frozen in time

because like those two periods above
things get trapped.
between, under and over
somewhere
the hands of chance cracking knuckles
and this picture above me
of ella and duke and ray and billie and louis and some of the greats
just like this image of the present
drawn into the satin background
already 40 years past and lost in some other future
which thaws and gets swallowed up by a thirsty poodle.
